For many Thanksgiving is yummy food, people you love and for us that includes Fabulous hair too! We came up with some Thanksgiving Hair Recipes that are sure to be a big hit at the table!

Whether your hair is short or long, virgin or color treated we all want shiny, healthy hair! Try these easy hair recipes with ingredients you already have in your kitchen and you are sure to be thankful!

Ingredients:

Olive Oil

4 tablespoons to 1/4 cup of Olive Oil – will make your hair strong and nourished and provides elasticity. It also helps to reduce stress, which can affect your hair, it’s true…a happy person has happy hair! 

Philosophy- Old Fashioned Egg Nog

2-3 tablespoons Philosophy- Old Fashioned Eggnog 3 in 1 Shampoo, Bubble Bath and Shower Gel (Sephora $16) – smell as yummy (or festive) as you look

Directions:
Use Olive Oil, depending on the length of your hair to massage your scalp. Make sure to massage in circular motions. The stimulation of the scalp will feel good and increase hair growth. Run the rest of the olive oil through your hair to the tip. This will be an amazing conditioning treatment. Put on a shower cap and leave in for at least 20 minutes. Then shampoo your hair very well using Philosophy’s – Old Fashioned Eggnog (you’re welcome to use your own favorite shampoo) and condition as you normally do. You can apply the olive oil once a month for shiny, healthy hair! This is especially great if you would like to grow your hair…

Elements Hair Studio (301 3rd Street Brooklyn, NY) is my GO TO Salon for…well…EVERYTHING. I’ve had my hair dyed, cut, styled for a wedding and have even had my makeup done there. The staff is so sweet (really everyone) and you are always greeted with coffee and a snack (always a plus) I like the convenience of the lockers so you have a place to put your coat and bag (and if your anything like the women in my family it’s usually a big one)

I heart ROBERT SANTANA (owner of Elements) he makes my hair feel healthy and look beautiful each time I am in his salon. I have been going to him for about two years now and have been loyal ever since. This national and global artist has been working his magic for over 16 years. He always delivers  a fabulous hair cut. I was once inspired by JLO (Jennifer Lopez of course) and wanted bangs; he did such a good job that another hair stylist asked if they were “clip ons” because they looked perfect!  Recently I went in before a party and it was pouring rain outside, thankfully Robert not only put my hair in a “dubi”(us latin women wrap our hair up with bobby pins) and under a shower cap but he offered to walk me to the car with his umbrella. I left that salon satisfied and DRY… lol. Hello customer service!

I recommend calling at least one week in advance for him because he is busy but if you go in you will learn why. Since he is the lead stylist you could add roughly 15.00 to each process compared to the salons menu (it’s so worth it).

My mother and sister (Millie-socialbutterflysalon co-contributer) go to Gabrielle for blow outs…and they always leave very happy.

Ayumi - Patricia Field Stylist

FABULOUS…yes..thats the perfect word to describe Ayumi, Hair and Makeup Artist at Hello Beautiful Salon-House of Field (located at 302 Bowery, NYC) on the lower level of the Patricia Field Boutique. What a jem of a salon. We felt as though we had entered a secret passage to hair & fashion heaven! Millie and I had sooo much fun talking with her. She is a totally wonderful looking, Japanese import who has been working there since 1993!

It didnt feel much like an interview because shes so humble and easy going…oh and did I mention the woman is a total fashion forward, hair guru, from head to toe. I mean from her impeccably done hair and makeup to her Vivienne Westwood heels…I wanted a full hair make-over-the-top on the spot!

As if we were not gagging at how much we loved her, Ayumi is Patricia Field’s personal hair stylist (I know…AMAZING… THE Sex in the City stylist is Ayumi’s client) and has a full list of other celebrities and music artists…including the Wonder Girls, and yeah remember Deee-Lite, groove is in the heart… I mean the list goes on. Ayumi says many people come in to see her for her cuts & colors (her specialty), they also go to Great Lengths for her great extensions. Umm yes, longer hair is always better, my opinion anyway ADM (Aye Dios Mio) I am out of control!

Ayumi is inspired by traveling, music artists and working inside of one of the most cutting edge fashion hubs in NYC, HELLO Patricia Field people. When we asked about the latest hair trend everyone was asking for in the salon-she responded by saying that all of her clients are so different and unique. No boring, cookie cutter stylist here We heart her and know you will too…

Tonight on a new episode of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, Tabatha heads down south to Florida to help out a desperate young salon owner with little experience.  But when one of the hairdressers tries to rationalize her mistakes, it is the last straw for Tabatha who calls for a complete overhaul!  First step?  Promotion!  The stylists must head out to the beach to get their name out to the consumers, will their attempt be successful?

From the Victoria Secret runway, to Gossip Girl, to the streets, the tousled look is “the look” to achieve. It screams sexy, sophisticated and celebrity! We spoke to celebrity stylists to find out how to achieve this look and if we could do it ourselves and guess what… Celebrity stylists revealed the secret to the tousled look and we are sharing it with you.

Step 1: Wash and condition your hair, towel dry and add your favorite leave-in conditioner

Step 2: Separate your hair into sections (6-8 sections is usually enough)

Step 3: With a large round brush, starting at the front of your head, blow dry one section 

Step 4: Once this section is smooth, take your curling iron and roll the now dry section into the curling iron, starting at the root and circling your hair around the curling iron (the tip of your hair should be at the tip of the curling iron). Hold for 10-15 seconds…

Step 5: Release the hair roll it back up and pin it to your head (it should look like a small roller is on your head).

Step 6: Repeat to all sections of your hair. Once all sections are done you can add some hair spray if you want the curl to hold longer. (I personally like the curl to drop, to look more like a wave, so I don’t add the spray) 

Step 7: Set your hair dryer to cool and use the dryer to go over all of your pinned hair. This allows your hair to set.

Step 8: Remove all of the pins and add your favorite shine product, (only a small amount, you don’t want to weigh your hair down with product) starting from the tips and working your way up with your hands only. Do not use a brush from this point on.

Step 9: Use your fingers to lightly brush through your hair and create the part you are most comfortable with (I personally like a middle part for the tousled look, I think it looks balanced).

Step 10: Go out and flaunt your tousled look, celebrity styled, hair and it’s up to you whether you will share this hair secret with your friends… I totally heart this look!

A small salon, on 87th Street and 3rd Avenue, Bayridge, Brooklyn, NY called Trendy where you literally lay down on a leather lounge chair to get your hair washed. Ooh comfy! Let’s face it, it was not trendy, but…I was in and out in 40 minutes. The most amazing part of the whole experience is…ready for this… 2 Hair dryers!!! The stylist was fast and held 2 dryers. Apparently, this is their thing. All of the stylists held 2 hair dryers to blow dry. Next BIG thing $10 and up blow outs. Ooh La La!!! What more can a girl ask for.
